Shiga (frazil ice) [久慈川のシガ]

“Shiga” is a Japanese Tohoku (Northeast) regional dialect for frazil ice made in the river (ice floe). It is a phenomenon that frozen ice appears on the surface of the water when temperature and the water temperature of the river lower moderately in the Kuji River of the cold winter. One of the regions which Shiga is generated is about 15km area around the Yamatsuri town - Fukuroda, Daigo town.

It has been said that Shiga could not do the accurate outbreak prediction. However I found the accurate prediction of which Shiga would start running from the result of 4-year fixed-point observation by measuring the water temperature.
